The best quality premium jeans are manufactured using selvedge denim. They usually come with a premium price tag too. But what exactly makes the clean edge turn up on a pair of jeans so expensive? Originally denim was manufactured on shuttle looms. The denim made on these machines was very narrow, so in the 50s when there was a massive demand for denim jeans, denim jackets and other denim products, the Americans looked for a way of producing more denim for less money. They ditched their shuttle looms for projectile looms to make the denim. These new looms made double the amount of denim for much less money. But the denim was much lighter, less durable and was a much lower quality than that of selvedge denim. Denim makers also substituted real indigo dye with cheaper made products to colour the denim products and began to wash the denim to control shrinkage and the shape changing qualities of raw selvage denim.
It was the Japanese thirty years later that bought up all the old style American looms and began creating original selvedge denim for people looking for the best premium selvedge denim jeans. Still the best quality selvedge denim comes from Japan.
Selvedge denim wearers should avoid washing their jeans where possible to not loose the shape and colour. Like a fine wine, selvedge denim improves with age. As the denim wears down and the colour begins to fade each pair of selvedge jeans develop unique and beautiful patterns.

At some point in every mans life, the denim button down jean jacket has, was or will live in his wardrobe.
The iconic Levi’s 506XX denim jacket was introduced as a fashion jacket in the late 30′s. Before this it was refered to as a ‘blouse’ and was worn as protective work gear. It featured a single pocket and a buckle back and was known as the ‘Type 1.’ Over time variations of the iconic denim jean jacket have been created featuring double pockets and other slight detailing. Now a days the denim jean jacket has evolved even further. Hundreds of brands and denim manufacturers are constantly designing, redesigning and evolving the classic denim jacket.
The only general rule when wearing your denims together is that one piece must be two shades darker than the other. Keep it simple and a close fit and you’ve created a timeless denim look that will keep you warm and comfy for the rest of your denim wearing years.

Here is David Beckham spotted wearing a pair of PRPS jeans at a competition prize appearance in California. After seeing these awesome jeans we’ve added a PRPS section to our menswear section.
This particular pair of PRPS jeans is the Baracuda Straight Leg. A wrench washed distressed denim with a yellow fading throughout. There are a few intentional tears to add some authenticity to the style along with whispering along the pockets and oxidised metal hardwear.
PRPS is softened from ‘purpose’ and is designed by designer Donwan Harrell. He produces denim made from top quality African cottons. The styles have been carefully researched, pulling inspiration from traditional work denim, military and hunting wear. The denim is crafted in Japan and well aged and distressed to replicate an authentic worn look. The trademark purple selvedge really makes these jeans extra special.
David Beckham probably doesn’t need to worry about the price tag. PRPS jeans don’t come cheap, in fact the pair he has on here are weighing in at £409.00 and are available here. This may seem like a lot of money but if you can afford them, they’ll be a worthy investment.
We’ve dug out a pair of PRPS Heirloom Barracuda jeans with a very reasonable price tag of £161 which are available here!

I’m sure everyone has had the problem of deciding which jeans to go for. Skinny jeans? Loose fit jeans? Straight Jeans? Raw denim? Distressed Vintage style denim? Well Diesel have now introduced ‘Diesel TurboDenim’ a denim that changes from a raw denim style to a vintage look denim in under 30 days!
According to the diesel website the way to make your new raw Diesel denim jeans begin to morph into a vintage style denim is simple. You simply wear the jeans for a day, after the first day of rocking your new deisel raw denim jeans, hang them (but don’t fold them). At this point the denim has already been shaped on your body. Step two is to wear the jeans again, in fact wear your jeans at least 30 times without washing them! It’s at this point your Diesel Turbo Denim jeans are ready to transform! Wash the jeans at 50 – 60 and hang them to dry. Don’t iron your jeans at this stage! Once your jeans are dry you should notice that they no longer appear as stiff raw denim but a unique vintage pair of diesel jeans! You should see different shades of blue around the pockets where you keep your wallet and keys. So next time you cant decide between a nice crisp raw denim look or a funky, retro, distressed, vintage style pair of jeans, why not have both!
Like all Diesel jeans, they come in a variety of cuts and fits to suit you. These are our favourites available now at Fallen Hero. Check them out by clicking the image below!
